Drum roll please… Whalebone is 20 years old! Blimey, how did that happen? It seems unbelievable but Thursday 23rd of October marks the twentieth anniversary of our first public performance together, at St Leonard’s Church in Bridgnorth. Not long after that we started a monthly residency at Cinnamon Cafe and the rest, as they say, is history.
Since that first performance we’ve gone on to clock up over 800 gigs, recorded 12 albums, became a trio for many years with Sarah before becoming a guitar duo again in 2019. These days you’re most likely to come across us on streaming platforms such as Spotify, which didn’t even exist when we started 20 years ago, and we recently reached 60 million streams across various platforms.
We couldn’t have done this without the support of a huge amount of folks, so if you’ve ever seen us at a gig, bought a CD, streamed our music or just given us a word of encouragement we’d like to say a heartfelt Thank You. We really appreciate it.
