Soundscapes | Ecoscapes | Ambient

Earthbone blends the beautiful sounds of the natural world with gentle acoustic instruments and textures to create calming music in tune with the rhythms of nature, gathered and created by musicians and found sound artists Charlotte Watson and Steve Downs.

Rising early to record the dawn chorus, using special microphones to record sap rising in ancient yew trees and the underwater soundscape of the river which flows past their studio, the duo weave these sounds and more with acoustic stringed instrument tracks and ethereal sound washes to make music that truly comes from the earth.

We recorded in an ancient sunken lane that leads down to a reservoir, so you can also hear some wetland birds in the distance. We weave gentle acoustic guitar

We weave gentle acoustic guitar lines throughout with some textural synths but the songs of the birds are centre stage and breathtaking in their beauty.

The name comes from the Latin name for the Sweet Chestnut tree, and the tree’s voice adds a deep, calming foundation to the composition.
