The last day of July! And a new release from Whalebone called ‘Possibilities’
A lot of what we create comes from sitting down with our acoustic guitars, trying out feels and melodies, and seeing where the mood takes us. When we wrote ‘Possibilities’, we were thinking a lot about how chaotic and unpredictable the world can feel and wanted to create something that felt like a quiet reminder of all the good things still out there. We ended up weaving together a little guitar riff and an upbeat melody that interact in a way that’s honestly really good fun to play - it’s got this gentle, uplifting energy and it’s always a good feeling when we manage to create something positive and mood enhancing.
The cover art is a close-up photo of a dandelion seed head. To us, it’s a metaphor for what this tune is all about - a single dandelion head holds hundreds of tiny seeds, each one ready to catch the breeze and drift off in a countless different directions. In an uncertain world, every seed represents a choice, a fresh start, and a chance to plant something good.
So we think ‘Possibilities’ is a companion for those little everyday reset moments - whether you need a spark of optimism first thing or just a few quiet minutes to sit back and reflect on what you’re grateful for, we hope we’ve created a reminder of all the good things waiting for you.
