A new release today from Earthbone! ‘I rise from earth’ is the first track from an EP that follows the course of the River Severn from the slopes of Plynlimon, as it flows across borders before being embraced by the wild Atlantic Ocean. Halfway along its long journey, on a broad bend in its course, the river passes our tiny rural studio, where these soundscapes were created, using found sounds recorded alongside the Severn and her tributaries.
🎙️We imagined ourselves being the river, so the music is written from the Severn’s perspective, starting small at the source with ‘I rise from earth’ where the tiniest trickle of a river emerges from a peat bog in the Cambrian Mountains of Wales. The sounds are light, building throughout the track to mimic how the river really does develop quite rapidly from such small beginnings, the music building and becoming more layered, with lower lines weaving into the mix mirroring the Severn’s growth from a stream to a river, as it flows through the beautiful Hafren Forest near Llanidloes.🎤
