Shrewsbury Folk Festival discoveries and more

On the eve of this year's Shrewsbury Folk Festival we've been musing on the artists who we've discovered in the past year, many at the last SFF... and it's a bit of a world tour! From the UK there's Greg Russell and Ciaran Algar and Sam Kelley and the Lost Boys, Canada added The East Pointers, Ten Strings and a Goatskin and we're still singing along in pretend French to Le Vent du Nord and La Machine. Sarah Jarosz, David Rawlings and Darrell Scott have given us our Americana fix, we heard Australia's Emily Barker at an intimate concert just down the road, and Vasen from Sweden entertained us in Bishops Castle. We heard an Englishman, a Scotsman and an Irishman in a bar... luckily it was the sublime McCusker, McGoldrick and Doyle. We haven't caught up with Valencia's Efren Lopez in a bar yet, but we've given his recordings a good bending this year. Most recently we've been bingeing on Scotland's Paul McKenna Band, but who knows, we might have a new favourite artist (and a bigger CD collection) by Monday night. Shrewsbury... bring it on! Here's a new Spotify playlist you can follow and listen to - it's definitely going to grow over the bank holiday weekend!... Shrewsbury Folk Festival Discoveries:
