For the past eight months we have had the great pleasure of working with poet Jean Atkin on a new music and poetry project: Understories which we are planning to release next year.
One of the pieces from that project, 'Tom Palin at Cinderloo', has this week been published in Proletarian Poetry, and a video of the piece is now on YouTube.
‘Tom Palin at Cinderloo’ explores the story of a rising by ironworkers in Shropshire in 1821, as they protested against draconian pay cuts. It’s a classic tale of industrial abuse of labour, and it ended in the deaths of several of the strikers with many further injuries to women and children involved in the protest.
