Sarah returned to her roots in the Buckinghamshire Chilterns to make this video, filming in the chalk grasslands where she learned the names of flowers with her mother and grandmother as a child. The video also features botanical illustrations of those flowers and others by Kate Ibberson, who was an accomplished artist in many media.

The chalk hills of that part of southern England also inspired our friend and poet Kate Innes, whose poem 'White Horse' is set in this ancient, haunted landscape. We will be performing Chalk Heart and White Horse together this Saturday 16th June at Ludlow Assembly Rooms in a full-length performance of Flocks of Words. Tickets are available HERE.
